Network Rail of England is getting hit hard with problems... who put the jinx curse on them?

First MPs have put pressure on Network Rail to resolve problems at London Bridge after commuters faced overcrowding, cancellations and delays. Network Rail said recent problems were a result of the station being rebuilt for the £6.5bn Thameslink Programme but described them as "unacceptable" and "embarrassing".

There were engineering over-runs at King's Cross station on 27 December. The chair of the Transport Select Committee, Louise Ellman, described what happened there as having "elements of farce". New rail grab equipment meant to improve reliability broke down and communication failed at the backup station Finsbury Park.

Display screens were in the wrong place on the new concourse which created crowds and which meant passengers could not get onto trains. There were also too many trains for the new platforms and signalling, which led to concern that the modelling for London Bridge was wrong.

Then a water main break flooded a tunnel, and they slapped Thames Water with a multi million £ bill for complete shut down of service at London Bridge  http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-31026906

A Network Rail spokeswoman said trains would be unable to run between London St Pancras International and Farringdon until "at least the end of service" on Monday. On Sunday, at least 3ft (1m) of water remained in the tunnel despite "continued efforts" to pump it out, the authority said.
